State Department for Livestock Development (SDLD)

The State Department for Livestock Development (SDLD) undertakes the overall Project coordination at the country and county level. SDLD will also coordinate regional meetings during the time Kenya will be hosting Horn of Africa Initiative secretariat. 
For the overall coordination role SDLD through the PIU will be  coordinating the implementing agencies and counties; crowd in key players involved in livestock production, provide the enabling environment for pastoralists' access to financial services, and the mobilization of private investment in the livestock value chains, through inter alia the formation of pastoralist groups and facilitation of linkage of component 1 and 2, and facilitate the operationalization of the Livestock Master Plan (LMP) and Livestock Identification and Livestock Traceability Systems (LITS); ensure compliance with
public accountabilities requirements; provide technical advice on the private investment priorities; advice on complementary resilience-building activities by the pastoralists; regular reviews of beneficiary data; monitoring and evaluation. All these is considered as implementation of Component 2 part II.
